Assistant Professor
Tarun Khandelwal is an economist specializing in macroeconomics and monetary policy, with a focus on inflation dynamics and policy credibility in emerging economies. He served as Assistant Professor of Economics at the Symbiosis School of Economics, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune from December 2016 to December 2025. He holds a B.A. (Hons.) in Economics from the University of Delhi and an M.A. in Economics from the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE). He completed his PhD in Economics at GIPE, with a doctoral thesis titled “Monetary Policy and Inflation Targeting in India”, and has qualified UGC-NET (Assistant Professor).
His teaching spans Macroeconomics, Money & Banking, and History of Economic Thought, emphasizing concept-building, real data, and policy relevance. His research examines inflation persistence, nonlinear adjustment, and threshold effects, with ongoing work on identifying threshold levels of inflation and their implications for macroeconomic policy design.
